From 2018 to 2021, the market volume for non-rendered pig fat in Armenia contracted by 11.2%, falling from 4 070 t to 3 614 t. Domestic production declined moderately from 1 287 t to 1 247 t over the same period, while imports dropped from 2 784 t to 2 367 t.

A sharp reversal occurred in 2022, with market volume jumping 10.6% to 3 997 t. This surge was fueled by a 19.2% increase in imports to 2 821 t, coinciding with strengthened trade cooperation with Russia. Russian meat processors NatFood and Bacon Products established supply agreements for pork, including delicatessen products, which expanded the availability of pig-derived raw materials, including fat, in the Armenian market.

The market corrected slightly in 2023, dipping 3.5% to 3 859 t as imports fell to 2 667 t. Nevertheless, Russian pork exports to Armenia reportedly grew significantly, indicating a shift in supply chain dynamics. By 2024, discussions focused on channel development, including supplies of Russian meat products to Armenia's HoReCa sector, pointing to ongoing structural changes in distribution.
