Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2020, the Lithuanian fruit and vegetable juice market experienced a decline in volume from 25.9 million liters to 22.6 million liters. This occurred despite growing consumer interest in healthier products and a surge in home cooking during the COVID-19 pandemic, which initially boosted demand for fresh ingredients. Price fluctuations linked to the Russian embargo on the EU market and historically low vegetable consumption rates also contributed to a constrained market environment.

Market volume rebounded sharply by 19.7% to 27.1 million liters in 2021, driven primarily by a significant expansion of juice assortments in stores. Retailers like 'Iki' promoted fresh and natural options, while new product segments such as fermented vegetable juices gained popularity. The following year, volume dipped to 25.3 million liters as juice pressers faced 10–15% higher service costs due to expensive packaging, diesel, electricity, and wages. Simultaneously, stricter state quality controls were enforced, and new competitors entered the juice pressing service sector, intensifying competition. Despite the volume drop, the market's value continued to rise, reflecting a consumer shift towards premium, direct-press juices without added sugars.

In the later period, market volume showed stabilization, reaching 23.5 million liters in 2024. Meanwhile, the market value demonstrated consistent growth, climbing to 31.2 million dollars by 2024, underscoring sustained consumer demand for higher-quality juice products.
