The entry of new market players and the launch of innovative, health-oriented snack products catered to evolving demand. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 increased demand for conveniently packaged, healthy nuts and seeds, which helped offset supply chain disruptions and kept market volume steady at 3 469 t.

Regulatory changes regarding labeling requirements, implemented in 2021 to enhance transparency about product origin, coincided with a market volume decrease to 2 848 t. Simultaneously, the growing importance of e-commerce channels began reshaping distribution. In 2022, continued EU subsidy mechanisms and fiscal support for local production, alongside the emergence of new product segments like vegan and gluten-free snacks, facilitated a slight market recovery to 2 890 t. However, global supply chain disruptions affected import flows and availability, constraining more substantial domestic market growth.

Following 2022, market volume contracted sharply to 2 083 t in 2023, then saw a modest rebound to 2 112 t in 2024. Throughout this later period, domestic production and exports expanded significantly, reaching 6 108 t and 7 064 t respectively in 2024, indicating a strengthened export orientation for the Lithuanian industry.

In 2021, output reached 17 797 thousand US dollars, marking a 12.3% increase compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, production rose by 55.7%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 15.9%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 11 118 thousand US dollars. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 2.7%, while the biggest increase was seen in 2020, at 42.6%.

In 2021, Lithuania produced 3 671 tonnes of prepared or preserved nuts and seeds, a decrease of 7.8% from 2020. From 2018 to 2021, overall production increased by 8.4%, averaging 2.7% growth per year. The lowest output was in 2019 at 3 311 tonnes, while the highest was in 2020 at 3 981 tonnes. The largest year-on-year increase occurred in 2020, with a rise of 20.2%.

After two years of growth, Lithuania's exports of prepared or preserved nuts and seeds declined in 2021. The country exported 4 228 tonnes that year, a drop of 4.3% from the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports increased by 24.4%, with an average annual growth rate of 7.5%. The peak volume was recorded in 2020 at 4 418 tonnes, and the largest increase happened that same year, at 16.5%.

From 2018 to 2021, Latvia, Finland, and Estonia were the main destinations for Lithuania's exports of prepared or preserved nuts and seeds in volume terms. Latvia accounted for 33.0% of exports, Finland for 11.3%, and Estonia for 10.8%. Together, these three markets represented 55.1% of total export flows.
