From 2018, Venezuela's coffee market saw the rise of premium cafes and a growing specialty segment, shifting consumption patterns and supporting domestic demand despite persistent structural issues like low purchasing power and limited agricultural credit. Global oversupply from Vietnam maintained low international prices, affecting competitiveness. By 2020, the decline in production halted, and market volume reached 58 892 tons.

Market volume contracted to 52 093 tons in 2021. A significant shift occurred in 2022 when the government permitted private actors to import fertilizers, ending a state monopoly and boosting production by an estimated 24% by improving input access. The sector gained visibility with the first International Specialty Coffee Meeting and the registration of 378 export-quality brands, signaling diversification. Despite higher production, market volume fell to 49 815 tons.

In 2023, production increased 14% to 58 625 tons and market volume recovered to 56 407 tons, driven by new high-yield, high-caffeine varieties planted in 2017–2018 reaching commercial harvest. State support and official recognition of the production recovery reinforced growth. By 2024, the sector consolidated with over 420 national brands, expansion into new markets like Russia and China, and ambitious planting targets.
