Between 2018 and 2019, the market volume for chicken meat and offal in Burkina Faso increased from 192.1 thousand tons to 204.1 thousand tons. This growth coincided with the establishment of Charcuterie Moderne du Burkina, a new integrated modern slaughtering and processing facility that expanded domestic production capacity.

Following a sharp drop to 147.5 thousand tons in 2020, the market entered a phase of gradual recovery. In 2021, authorities banned poultry imports to control avian influenza, which bolstered local production. The market volume continued to rise, reaching 152.9 thousand tons in 2023, supported by the launch of a state agropastoral program aimed at substantially increasing poultry output.
