The market contracted to 2,111 t in 2020 due to supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, though government support policies helped maintain local production. Stability followed in 2021 as the Ministry of Agriculture engaged over 27,000 youths in farming, fostering innovation and sustaining output. A rebound to 2,417 t occurred in 2022, supported by continued state efforts to attract private investment into commercial agriculture.

Production dipped to 2,178 t in 2023 during a period of consistent policy support without major new market drivers. The launch of the 'Farm to Fork' initiative in 2024 aimed to strengthen links between local farmers and the tourism sector, potentially influencing future demand for cereal germ.
