From 2018 to 2021, the market volume for not roasted and not cooked groundnuts in Fiji declined, falling from 405.4 t to 350.7 t. This reduction was primarily driven by a sharp drop in imports, which decreased from 54.6 t to 3.3 t over the same period, while domestic production remained relatively stable.

The trend reversed in 2022 when the market volume surged to 491.3 t, a 40% increase from the previous year. This jump was due to a recovery in imports, which reached 137.4 t, even though production saw only a modest rise. In 2023, the market volume slightly decreased to 473.8 t but stayed at an elevated level.

In value terms, the market followed a similar pattern: it contracted from $1.97 million in 2018 to $1.57 million in 2021, then expanded to $2.47 million in 2023. The higher market value in 2023, despite a slight dip in volume, suggests an increase in prices or a shift in product mix.
