Cassava market volume in Myanmar remained relatively stable between 2018 and 2020, fluctuating within a narrow range of 387 to 392 thousand tons annually. Production during these years held steady at just under 395 thousand tons, supporting consistent domestic availability.

From 2021 onward, the market experienced a sustained downward trend. Production fell sharply to 326 thousand tons in 2021 and continued declining to 201 thousand tons by 2023. This contraction in output directly reduced the domestic market volume, which dropped to 164 thousand tons in 2023.

Overall, the cassava market in Myanmar contracted by more than half over the period from 2018 to 2023. The most significant reduction in both production and market volume occurred after 2020, marking a clear shift in market conditions.

Myanmar's cassava production increased after a two-year decline. In 2020, production reached 392.8 thousand tons, remaining stable compared to the previous year. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 392.4 thousand tons, while the largest decline occurred in 2018 with a 1.0% decrease.
