Earlier Report Observations

The volume of the apricot market in Europe fluctuated significantly between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 941 thousand tons in 2018, it grew to a peak of 1,038 thousand tons in 2019 before falling sharply to 826 thousand tons in 2020. The market partially recovered to 978 thousand tons in 2022 but declined again to 820 thousand tons by 2023.

In value terms, the market reached its highest point in 2022 at $31,576 million, a more than 50% increase from the previous year. This surge coincided with a period of elevated global oil prices, which increased production and logistics costs. Concurrently, a growing European consumer preference for natural and organic food products supported demand for apricots as a healthy choice.

By 2023, the market value receded to $27,380 million, while the physical volume settled near the levels seen in 2020 and 2021, indicating a market adjustment after the high-cost environment of 2022.
