After reaching 916 million liters in 2018, the alcoholic beer market in Turkey contracted over the next two years, falling to 823 million liters by 2020. This decline was driven by successive increases in excise taxes and other levies, which pushed beer prices higher and reduced affordability. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further dampened demand by sharply reducing out-of-home consumption, despite some growth in at-home drinking.

From 2021 onward, the market entered a sustained expansion, reaching 1 092 million liters by 2023. This recovery was fueled by the introduction of new product segments such as craft and organic beers, which attracted consumer interest. Major players like Tuborg, under Carlsberg's ownership, expanded their presence and launched innovative products like Carlsberg Luna, utilizing dry-hopping techniques. Despite continuing price hikes due to tax adjustments, diversification into flavored and aromatic beers helped stimulate demand and drive volume growth.

Production peaked in 2018 at 964.8 million liters, which represented the largest annual increase of 5.3%. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 4.5%, translating to an average annual decline of 1.5%.

From 2017 to 2020, production decreased by 2.4%, averaging an annual decline of 0.8%.

After a two-year rise, Turkey's volume of alcoholic beer exports declined. In 2020, Turkey exported 60,708 thousand liters of alcoholic beer, representing a significant drop of 14.4% year-over-year. Exports reached their peak in 2019 at 70,903 thousand liters, which saw the largest annual increase of 15.2%. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 13%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Iraq, Cyprus, and Lebanon remained the main markets for Turkey's alcoholic beer exports in volume terms. Iraq accounted for 32.9% of exports, Cyprus for 22.5%, and Lebanon for 11.4%. Together, these three countries represented 66.9% of Turkey's total export flows in kind.

Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 15.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Germany consistently occupied leading positions in Turkey's alcoholic beer import structure in volume terms. Mexico accounted for 35.2% of imports, the Netherlands for 22.1%, and Germany for 19.0%. Together, these three countries represented 76.3% of total import flows in kind.

In 2020, imports came to 12,274 thousand US dollars, indicating a moderate decline of 5.3% compared to the previous year. The maximum value was recorded in 2018 at 17,482 thousand US dollars, which experienced the largest annual increase of 44.6%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 25.8%.
