Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2021, alcoholic beer production in Uzbekistan increased consistently from 191.2 million liters to 267.1 million liters. This growth was primarily driven by the expansion in the number of large and mini breweries, which raised overall production capacity, and the entry of new players launching products and widening the assortment. The formal establishment of the Agency for Regulation of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market and Development of Viticulture in July 2020 provided a structured regulatory framework that supported market development.

A sharp surge occurred in 2022, with production reaching 395.1 million liters. This jump was largely attributable to a shift in consumer preferences, especially among younger demographics, toward low- and mid-alcohol beverages like beer and cocktails. Breweries responded by actively transforming their product assortments and introducing new offerings to capture this growing demand. However, production fell significantly to 243.1 million liters in 2023, marking a notable interruption to the previous upward trend.

Regulatory measures, including tax, customs, and excise policies, continued to influence the market throughout the period. By 2024, industry evolution focused on new segments such as flavored low-alcohol drinks and non-alcoholic beer, alongside ongoing adjustments to labeling and packaging requirements. The sustained activity of the regulatory agency and changing consumption patterns remained key contextual factors for the market.
