The wheat gluten market volume in Western Asia expanded consistently from 2018 to 2022, rising from 35 959 t to 54 849 t. This growth was interrupted only in 2023, when volume dipped slightly to 53 277 t.

In value terms, the market exhibited greater volatility. After a decline to $57.8 million in 2019, it recovered and entered a phase of rapid expansion, doubling from $60.5 million in 2020 to $121.1 million in 2023.

The overall market expansion over the period was supported by a significant increase in imports, which rose from 30 396 t to 52 379 t, while domestic production fluctuated between 5 781 t and 8 134 t.
