The wheat bran market in Peru showed variable volume from 2018 to 2021, with a notable recovery after 2019. The presence of processors like the state-private Corporación ADC, using advanced milling technology, underpinned production capacity. Market volume rose to 139 thousand tons in 2021, a year in which national reports highlighted ongoing challenges in managing solid waste streams that include agricultural by-products.

A sharp expansion followed in 2022, lifting the market to 159 thousand tons. This jump was linked to higher forecasted wheat harvests, which increased the supply of bran as a milling residue, and Canada's dominant role as a wheat supplier to Peru, ensuring raw material for millers. In 2023, volume eased slightly to 155 thousand tons, coinciding with the implementation of a supreme decree that set rules for agro-industrial waste management, potentially affecting production practices.

By 2024, authorities noted a continued rise in solid waste generation and enacted a minimization plan for such residues, while export figures for goods grew, pointing to possible changes in external demand for by-products like wheat bran.
