The market for wheat bran, sharps, and residues in Indonesia grew from 1 806 thousand tons in 2018 to 2 448 thousand tons in 2021. This expansion was supported by a shift in consumer preferences towards more sustainable agricultural products, which increased demand for processing by-products. Concurrently, the adoption of precision farming and digital marketing technologies enhanced production efficiency and market reach.

A sharp contraction followed, with the market volume dropping to 1 733 thousand tons in 2022 and further to 1 627 thousand tons in 2023. The primary driver of this decline was changing weather conditions that negatively affected wheat harvests, limiting the raw material availability for bran production.
