Market volume for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Myanmar fluctuated significantly between 2018 and 2023. After a stable level around 96 thousand tons in 2018 and 2019, production-driven market volume surged to 118 thousand tons in 2020. This was followed by a decline to 104 thousand tons in 2021 and a sharp drop to 61 thousand tons in 2022, before a partial recovery to 81 thousand tons in 2023.

Early in the period, price volatility for related bran products, with import prices for rice bran peaking in 2018 and stabilizing thereafter, may have influenced market conditions.
