The market volume for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Burkina Faso displayed considerable variation from 2018 to 2023. It began at 30 756 tons in 2018, increased to 33 391 tons the following year, then fell to 29 450 tons in 2020.

A sharp turnaround occurred in 2021, with the market expanding by 35% to 39 750 tons. This growth took place despite security incidents in the Loroum province that year, which disrupted local farming and posed a risk to domestic wheat production.

After the 2021 peak, the market volume rose slightly to 41 261 tons in 2022 before contracting to 34 572 tons in 2023.
