The market volume for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Barbados showed significant volatility from 2018 to 2023. After increasing from 3 210 t in 2018 to 3 751 t in 2019, the market contracted by more than a quarter by 2021, reaching a low of 2 385 t.

The market volume dynamics were closely tied to changes in domestic production, which fell from 3 600 t in 2019 to 2 307 t in 2021 before recovering to 2 807 t in 2023. Imports, while representing a smaller share, also influenced the total volume: they rose to 345 t in 2020, offsetting some of the production decline, but then dropped sharply to 8 t in 2022.

By 2023, the market volume stabilized at 2 849 t, below the 2019 peak but showing steady recovery from the downturn.

Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 30.2%, with an average annual decrease of 11.3%.
