This expansion was underpinned by a consistent increase in domestic production, which rose from 46 063 thousand tons to 49 201 thousand tons over the six-year period, alongside a notable rise in import volumes.

Following a year of stabilization in 2019, market volume entered a phase of stronger growth from 2020 to 2022. The most significant annual increase occurred in 2022, when the market expanded by over 1 800 thousand tons. The growth momentum slowed considerably in 2023, with the market size rising by only 116 thousand tons.

Trade flows contributed to the market's dynamics, with export volumes showing substantial volatility. Exports fell sharply to 631 thousand tons in 2022 before rebounding to 2 521 thousand tons in 2023, influencing the net volume available for domestic consumption in those years.

After two years of growth, Asia's production value for wheat bran, sharps, and residues saw a decline. From 2017 to 2020, production value increased by 21.3%, averaging an annual growth rate of 6.7%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 9 749 million US dollars, which represented a 19.5% increase. However, in 2020, the value fell to 8 676 million US dollars, down 11.0% from the previous year.
