Market volume eased to 1,921 t in 2022 amid persistent structural challenges like land fragmentation and significant post-harvest losses, which constrained supply growth. It recovered to 2,009 t in 2023, supported by strategic policy initiatives including the new National Strategic Plan for 2024-2028 aimed at strengthening food system resilience and the diversification into organic fruit and vegetable production. Throughout the period, the activity of established local processors and continued adherence to food safety and traceability regulations provided a stable foundation for the sector.

In 2020, the country produced 1 999 tonnes, which represents a 12.4% rise compared to the previous year. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 1 433 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 8.5%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the most significant increase, with production jumping by 24.1%.

The minimum export volume was recorded in 2018 at 6 763 kilograms, which also saw the largest drop of 86.8%. On the other hand, 2019 registered the biggest increase, with exports surging by 258.7%.
