Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2021, the vegetable puree market in CIS countries grew from 11,260 t to 20,262 t. The increase in 2019 was supported by high import dependency, with key supplies coming from Poland and the Netherlands, which boosted product availability. Consumer shift toward natural products without vinegar further stimulated demand in 2020, leading to a significant rise in domestic production. This trend continued into 2021, fueled by growing consumer preference for convenient, long‑shelf‑life foods without preservatives.

The market contracted to 12,006 t in 2022 following the introduction of a mandatory labeling experiment for prepared canned vegetable products that started on May 1, creating temporary operational adjustments for manufacturers. However, by 2023 the market recovered to 15,523 t, driven by the activity of major producers such as ‘Bondyuel‑Kuban’, ‘Erkonprodukt’, and others that adapted to the new requirements and ramped up output.

In 2024, new packaging standards in the EAEU countries came into force from September 1, altering packaging requirements for canned vegetables without vinegar. Additionally, rising prices for finished canned products and ongoing import dependence in adjacent segments like frozen vegetables continued to shape the market environment.
