The market volume for unroasted, not decaffeinated coffee in Cambodia expanded from 584 t in 2018 to 756 t in 2020. This significant increase in 2020 coincided with the marked rise of coffee shop culture across the country, with about 2 000 cafes operating by 2024, which shifted consumer preferences and boosted demand for coffee as a raw material. Although the market contracted to 640 t in 2021, the overall trajectory remained upward.

Growth accelerated again from 2022 onward, with the market reaching 1 114 t by 2023. This was fueled by the entry of new players, including international chains like Starbucks and Costa Coffee, which intensified competition and expanded overall coffee consumption. Concurrently, the foodservice sector grew due to urbanization and rising incomes, while a shift in consumer preferences toward convenient and energy-boosting beverages among young urban demographics further supported demand.
