Earlier Report Observations

The treenuts market in Israel saw significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Market volume grew sharply from 32 499 t in 2018 to 42 445 t in 2019, a period coinciding with the expansion of private label brands in retail, which increased product availability and variety. However, volume contracted to 38 036 t in 2020.

After recovering to 41 929 t in 2021, the market expanded again to 47 647 t in 2022. This growth was supported by a broader increase in agricultural imports and the development of food-tech applications, which raised demand for nuts as ingredients. In contrast, 2023 saw a decline to 43 190 t, driven by exceptionally high price increases for basic food items, including treenuts, which dampened consumer purchases.

In 2024, key developments included the implementation of a trade agreement with the United States that removed tariffs on nut imports, altering market access conditions. At the same time, food price rises continued at a slower pace, and online sales along with private label penetration kept evolving.
