The Polish testliner market experienced significant expansion from 2018 to 2021, with total volume growing from 1 049 thousand tonnes to 1 746 thousand tonnes. This surge was underpinned by a sharp increase in domestic production, which more than doubled, coupled with rising imports.

After a contraction to 1 521 thousand tonnes in 2022, the market stabilized in 2023 and recovered to 1 689 thousand tonnes in 2024. In the latter year, the packaging and paper sector faced logistics and transport challenges, which affected the availability and cost of raw materials and finished products.

After two years of growth, Poland's testliner production value declined. In 2020, output was valued at 389.8 million US dollars, marking a slight decrease of 1.5% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production increased by 58.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of 16.7%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 395.8 million US dollars, which also saw the largest annual increase of 34.1%.

Testliner production in Poland increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, Poland produced 1 005 thousand tonnes of testliner, reflecting a robust increase of 11.4% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, production grew by 87.4%, equating to an annualized rate of 23.3%.

Poland's testliner exports increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 437.0 thousand tonnes, showing an increase of 18.6% versus the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports grew by 18.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.8%. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 363.2 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 1.6%.

The structure of exports in kind from 2017 to 2020 can be described as diversified. The United Kingdom accounted for 12.6% of exports in kind, Sweden for 10.9%, and Lithuania for 6.7%, together making up just 30.2% of total flows. No single country held a clearly dominant position.

In 2020, testliner exports from Poland totalled 186.2 million US dollars, which is 3.3% higher than the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 2.4%, equating to an annualized rate of 0.8%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 180.3 million US dollars, which saw the largest decline of 21.2%. In contrast, the highest value was in 2018 at 228.6 million US dollars, with the largest increase of 25.8%.

The United Kingdom accounted for 14.2% of exports in value terms, Sweden for 10.8%, and Lithuania for 6.4%, together comprising only 31.3% of total flows. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 485.6 million US dollars, which saw the largest increase of 30.9%. In 2019, the largest decline of 13.9% occurred.
