Between 2018 and 2020, the market for waxed, oiled or glycerol impregnated paper and paperboard in Poland remained relatively stable, with volumes around 80 000–83 000 tons per year. In 2018, the Polish-German company Wepa Professional entered the market by launching a new paper mill in Piechowice with an investment of 27 million zł, adding production capacity to the sector. By 2021, market volume surged to 91 340 tons, driven by the broader economic recovery in the European Union which boosted demand for paper products.

The situation shifted in 2022 when market volume contracted sharply to 63 444 tons. This decline was primarily caused by global disruptions, including the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis, which reduced paper and board consumption across Europe. Rising raw material and energy costs also pressured production expenses. In 2023, the market stabilized at around 62 000 tons, followed by a recovery in 2024 with volume rising to 73 595 tons.

In 2020, output was valued at 257.6 million US dollars, showing no significant change compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production decreased by 5.6%, equating to an annualized rate of 1.9%. The maximum value was recorded in 2018 at 278.2 million US dollars. The largest decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 7.1%, while the largest increase was in 2018, at 2.0%.
