Thailand's taro production grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 107.0 K t of taro, marking a slight increase of 1.5% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 4.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.5%.

Exports taro from Thailand

The market showed significant volatility during these years. From 2017 to 2019, exports fluctuated with a peak-to-trough amplitude of 4.9 times. In 2019, exports hit their lowest point at 612 t, but rebounded in 2020 to 732 t, representing a substantial year-over-year increase of 19.7%. After two years of decline, Thailand's taro exports rebounded in value. In 2020, exports reached 1 055 K $ US, showing a sharp increase of 39.1% compared to the previous year. However, over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 41.6%, equivalent to an annualized decline of 16.4%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 758 K $ US, with the largest drop occurring in 2018 at 57.5%.
