Earlier Report Observations

The Danish fresh strawberry market contracted by 25% from 2018 to 2023, falling from 13 463 tons to 10 082 tons. After stabilization in 2019, market volume dipped in 2020, recovered in 2021, and then dropped sharply in 2022 and 2023.

This decline was driven by reductions in both domestic production and imports. Domestic strawberry output decreased from 6 510 tons in 2018 to 5 290 tons in 2023, while imports fell from 7 131 tons to 5 416 tons over the same period.

Concurrently, exports grew from 179 tons to 624 tons, further reducing the volume available for domestic consumption. By 2023, the market size had shrunk by 3 381 tons compared to 2018, reflecting a significant downturn in strawberry availability in Denmark.
