Earlier Report Observations

The strawberry market in Belarus showed initial growth, with volume increasing from 78 198 т in 2018 to 83 280 т in 2020. Early in the period, Belarus benefited from renewed access to the Russian market after Turkey's berry import ban was lifted in June 2017, which supported export-oriented production and contributed to market activity.

Market volume then contracted over the next two years, falling to 72 313 т in 2022. This decline was driven by high strawberry prices at the start of the 2022 season, which dampened consumer purchases, and unseasonably cold weather in May that delayed harvests and disrupted supply. A strong recovery followed in 2023, with volume rebounding to 81 503 т.

By 2024, the market saw the introduction of new strawberry varieties, including remontant types, and the adoption of agrotechnologies like spunbond covers to accelerate ripening. These innovations, along with continued export ties to Russia, pointed to ongoing evolution in production methods and product diversity.
