The market for fresh grapes in Belarus reached 50,575 t in 2019 before declining to 41,469 t in 2020. This contraction aligned with a persistent lack of suitable legislation, which constrained the development of domestic viticulture and winemaking. Meanwhile, regional climate warming began to expand the geographic potential for grape cultivation, introducing varieties like Pinot Noir and Riesling, though this long-term shift did not counteract the immediate market reduction.

Market volume rebounded sharply to 54,108 t in 2021, but then fell to 42,341 t in 2022 and 39,638 t in 2023. During this period, the Pinsk winery obtained the right to produce grape wines and wine materials from its own raw materials, a significant milestone for the industry. Concurrently, the development of grape varieties better adapted to the local climate, with good sugar-acid balance, improved product quality. These advancements in the winemaking segment occurred alongside a broader contraction in the fresh grape market volume.

In 2024, the focus on early-ripening grape varieties continued, enhancing production stability by ensuring harvests before adverse weather. Growing interest in grape seedlings and their delivery services across Belarus signaled expanding consumer demand and market activity. Furthermore, climatic changes enabled winter-uncovered cultivation in some regions, reducing costs and risks for producers. However, the absence of meaningful legislative reform remained a limiting factor for the sector's growth.

Belarus's fresh grape production declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 28 667 tons of fresh grapes, marking a 7.5% decrease compared to the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production actually increased by 30.3%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 9.2%. The peak production was recorded in 2018 at 33 000 tons, with the largest year-over-year increase of 50.0% also occurring that year.

The export market for fresh grapes from Belarus showed an unstable trend over the observed period. Exports reached their lowest point in 2020 at 529 tons, which was a 66.2% drop from the previous year. The peak occurred in 2018 with 5 476 tons exported, creating a 10.3-fold difference between the highest and lowest years. The largest decline was recorded in 2019 at 71.4%, while the largest increase happened in 2018 at 16.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia was the primary destination for Belarus's fresh grape exports, consistently accounting for 99.6% of total export volumes.

The value of fresh grape exports from Belarus fell for the second year in a row. In 2020, exports totaled 260 thousand US dollars, representing a sharp decline of 56.2% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, export values decreased by 82.4%, which corresponds to an average annual decline of 43.9%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 958 thousand US dollars. The largest year-over-year decline occurred in 2019 at 69.7%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 32.9%.
