Polynesia's soybean imports fell for the third consecutive year. In 2019, imports were higher, but by 2020 they had dropped to 3 770 kg, a 33.6% decrease from the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports declined by 76.7%, with an average annual decrease of 38.5%.

Polynesia's soybean imports in value terms also declined for the third year in a row. In 2019, imports were higher, but in 2020 they totaled 13 226 US dollars, showing a significant drop of 18.8% from the year before. Between 2017 and 2020, imports decreased by 70.6%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 33.5%.

During 2017–2020, the United States, China, and New Zealand remained the primary suppliers of soybeans to Polynesia in value terms. The United States contributed 57.0% of imports, China 20.8%, and New Zealand 10.1%, together making up 87.9% of total import value.
