The soybean oilcake market in Kazakhstan reached 105 тыс. т in 2019, supported by the country's initial development of oilseed processing capacity. However, the volume dropped to 75 тыс. т in 2020 as growing interest from large agribusinesses in soybean oilcake boosted exports, reducing domestic availability.

A sharp recovery to 126 тыс. т occurred in 2021, but the market contracted to 83 тыс. т in 2022 and 78 тыс. т in 2023. The 2022 decline coincided with reconstruction at the ТОО «Уыз Май Индастри» plant, which temporarily reduced processing capacity, while in 2023, increased exports driven by logistics corridor development and government support further limited domestic supply.

In 2024, Kazakhstan strengthened its position as a global exporter of oilseed products, entering the top 10 sunflower oil exporters and becoming a leading supplier of sunflower meal to the EU, with rising export volumes to China and Central Asia influenced by competitive Russian soybean meal prices.

Kazakhstan's soybean oilcake production increased after a two-year decline. In 2020, the country produced 60 922 tons of soybean oilcake, marking a slight increase of 2.4% compared to 2019. The minimum production volume was recorded in 2019 at 59 520 tons. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production decreased by 9.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.2%. The largest decline occurred in 2018, when production fell by 6.4%.

Kazakhstan's soybean oilcake production value increased after a two-year decline. In 2020, the output was valued at 31 934 thousand US dollars, showing a robust year-over-year rise of 16.9%. The minimum value was recorded in 2019 at 27 320 thousand US dollars. From 2017 to 2020, production value decreased by 7.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of 2.6%. The largest decline took place in 2018, when the value dropped by 17.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Germany were the main destinations for soybean oilcake exports from Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan accounted for 36.6% of exports in kind, Tajikistan for 30.9%, and Germany for 13.2%. Together, these three countries comprised 80.7% of total exports in kind.

The difference between the high in 2020 and the low in 2019 was 3.9-fold.
