The Polish market for rigid PVC pipes and hoses was influenced by the introduction of the new technical standard PN-C 89224:2018-03 in March 2018, which set specific requirements for plastic piping systems. After a slight contraction to 109.7 thousand tons in 2019, market volume expanded to 115.2 thousand tons in 2020 and rose sharply to 127.7 thousand tons in 2021. This growth was driven by the dynamic development of sewer and water supply networks across Poland, which created sustained demand for PVC pipes from the construction and infrastructure sectors.

The market declined to 97.0 thousand tons by 2023. This downturn was primarily caused by supply chain disruptions following the war in Ukraine and a sharp increase in energy and raw material costs, which significantly affected PVC production volumes. Investments by Orlen Group, through its subsidiary Anwil, in modernizing and expanding PVC manufacturing capacity during 2022–2023 were unable to counter these broader market pressures.

Throughout the period, the market remained closely tied to the construction industry. Anwil, as the sole domestic PVC producer, utilized modern technology licensed from Shin-Etsu to ensure product quality, while EU-level regulatory changes concerning packaging waste and recycling introduced new parameters for the plastics industry.

In 2020, Poland's production of rigid plastic tubes, pipes, and hoses made from PVC was valued at 182.0 million US dollars, showing minimal change compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 9.2%, which translates to an average annual increase of 3.0%. The highest production value was recorded in 2018 at 201.2 million US dollars, marking a significant increase of 20.6% that year. However, in 2019, production experienced its largest decline of 9.6%.

In 2020, Poland produced 135.8 thousand metric tons of rigid plastic tubes, pipes, and hoses made from PVC, representing a 6.0% increase from 2019. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 15%, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.8%. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 4.5%, while the most substantial increase was in 2018, reaching 13.7%.

Exports totaled 24,981 metric tons, reflecting a modest year-over-year increase of 8.6%. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 2.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 0.9%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 22,993 metric tons, which also saw the largest decline of 5.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, the key export partners for Poland's rigid plastic tubes, pipes, and hoses made from PVC were Czechia, Lithuania, and Germany. Czechia accounted for 24.5% of exports in kind, Lithuania for 18.3%, and Germany for 9.8%. Together, these three countries represented 52.6% of total export flows.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Italy, and Lithuania were consistently the main sources for Poland's imports of rigid plastic tubes, pipes, and hoses made from PVC in kind. Germany accounted for 39.3% of imports, Italy for 16.6%, and Lithuania for 14.3%. Together, these three countries made up 70.2% of total import flows.
