Between 2018 and 2020, the Hungarian market for rigid PVC pipes and hoses showed moderate fluctuations. Market volume in physical terms rose from 20 000 t in 2018 to 22 600 t in 2019, then eased to 21 600 t in 2020.

In 2021, the market surged, reaching 23 600 t in volume and $55.6 million in value. This spike was driven by the global energy and supply chain crisis, which pushed export and import prices up by 18–22%, and by peak production and consumption of rigid PVC pipes across Europe. The following year, despite a price correction after global export prices peaked at $2 732 per ton, the market's value remained high at $57.8 million, while physical volume dipped to 22 100 t, reflecting continued demand from construction and infrastructure sectors.

The market contracted sharply in 2023–2024, with volume falling to 17 600 t in 2023 and 14 100 t in 2024, and value dropping from $46.8 million to $36.7 million. By 2024, European markets showed signs of stabilization with a 2.7% rise in consumption, but in Hungary the decline continued amid easing supply chain pressures and price normalization.
