This expansion was notably fueled by increasing interest in biodegradable and compostable polymers, which opened new application segments and stimulated domestic consumption.

From 2022, the market entered a contraction phase, declining to 281 thousand tons in 2024. This reversal was driven by tightening EU environmental regulations, particularly the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) enacted in 2024, which restricted primary raw material use and promoted recycled content. Simultaneously, the commissioning of the Polimery Police polypropylene plant in 2024 added significant domestic production capacity, but regulatory pressures overall reduced market size for primary acrylic polymers.
