After declining for two consecutive years, Afghanistan's production of raw bovine and equine hides and skins rebounded in 2020. That year, the country produced 15 968 tonnes, marking a 9.3% increase compared to 2019. Looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 16%, which translates to an average annual decline of 5.6%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 14 611 tonnes, while the sharpest year-on-year drop occurred in 2018, when output decreased by 17.0%.
