Earlier Report Observations

The quince market in Southern Europe saw volume fall from 17 369 t in 2018 to 15 372 t in 2019, before recovering to 17 645 t in 2020. Throughout this period, the market maintained its traditional structure, with cultivation concentrated in regions like Andalusia and Valencia and sales occurring primarily through local markets and specialty stores.

In 2021, market volume contracted to 15 164 t. This year was marked by a growing interest in organic quinces, evidenced by a 50% price premium for organic produce and the strengthening of specialized companies like Campomar Nature in this segment. The following year, the market expanded sharply, with volume surging to 22 870 t in 2022.

Market growth continued into 2023, reaching 26 027 t. This increase was supported by the expansion of online sales and greater internet and smartphone penetration, which improved distribution and direct-to-consumer channels for fresh produce. These developments, alongside a sustained consumer trend toward fresh and organic goods, facilitated the market's rise.
