The market for prepared or preserved pork in Armenia expanded from 811 tonnes in 2018 to 883 tonnes in 2023, despite some annual fluctuations. Production volumes varied between 709 and 819 tonnes, while imports rose notably to 221 tonnes in 2023.

In 2024, imports of prepared pork fell sharply to 87 tonnes and exports declined to 32 tonnes. This contraction followed the April 2024 introduction of new Eurasian Economic Union technical regulations on meat labeling, which required updated nutritional and safety information. Concurrently, intensified sanitary inspections and enforcement actions at local markets, coupled with a reported decline in domestic pork production due to animal disease outbreaks, constrained trade and supply.

Armenia's production of prepared or preserved pork and offal has declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 741.6 t, marking a 4.4% decrease from the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 3.7%, with an average annual decline of 1.2%. The highest output was recorded in 2018 at 783.8 t, which also saw the largest increase of 1.8%.

After two years of growth, Armenia's production of prepared or preserved pork and offal in value terms declined. In 2020, the output was valued at 2 837 K $ US, down 7.6% year-over-year. From 2017 to 2020, production decreased by 2.4%, averaging a 0.8% annual drop. The peak value occurred in 2019 at 3 071 K $ US, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 4.7%.

Armenia's exports of prepared or preserved pork and offal have increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 35 098 kg, up 20.5% from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 65.1%, with an average annual growth rate of 18.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Georgia was the dominant buyer of prepared or preserved pork and offal from Armenia, accounting for 90.2% of total exports in volume.

Armenia's exports of prepared or preserved pork and offal in value terms have risen for the third year in a row. In 2020, export volume stood at 134.3 K $ US, showing a strong increase of 16.4% compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 67.1%, with an average annual growth rate of 18.7%.

Throughout 2017-2020, Georgia was the key partner for Armenia's exports in value terms, representing 91.1% of total export flows.

Imports reached their lowest point in 2019 at 35 607 kg, then surged to a high in 2020 at 72 601 kg, representing a 2-fold difference. In 2020, imports increased by 103.9% compared to the previous year. The largest decline was recorded in 2019 at 29.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia remained the leading supplier of prepared or preserved pork and offal to Armenia, providing 82.0% of total imports in volume, with the remainder spread across various other countries.

Armenia's imports of prepared or preserved pork and offal in value terms have increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, import volume reached 222.9 K $ US, a sharp rise of 62.0% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, imports grew by 10.9%, with an average annual increase of 3.5%. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 134.2 K $ US, which also saw the largest decline of 33.2%.
