Earlier Report Observations

Poultry meat production in Tajikistan surged from 14 270 t in 2018 to 84 400 t in 2023, primarily driven by state incentives. In 2018, the president exempted companies importing equipment and feed for poultry farming from taxes and customs duties, which lowered investment costs and stimulated industry expansion. This period also saw the start of construction for the largest poultry farm in Central Asia, with a capacity of 5.5 thousand t per year, signaling major long-term investments.

The production growth was sustained in subsequent years through continued government support. A key milestone in 2023 was the commissioning of that large-scale farm and the opening of another facility in Javan district with a capacity of 1 800 t per year, which directly boosted output. As domestic production rapidly increased, imports of fresh and chilled poultry meat fell sharply from 27 368 t to 2 779 t over the same period.

Consequently, the total market volume for poultry meat rose from 41 507 t in 2018 to 87 179 t in 2023. The expansion in local output not only compensated for the decline in imports but also became the main driver of overall market growth.
