Production of potato flour, flakes, granules and pellets in Bangladesh rose from 21 473 t in 2018 to 23 140 t in 2023, supported by increasing industrial demand for potato and a consumer shift toward healthier, gluten-free alternatives. The temporary output decline in 2020 was linked to supply-chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Market volume in physical terms reached a high of 23 640 t in 2021, then fell to 21 358 t in 2022 as historically high potato import prices reduced shipments. In value terms, the market jumped 31% to 32 390 thousand USD in 2020, driven by pandemic-related price volatility and stronger domestic demand for processed potato products.

Government policies to support local farmers and control food prices, alongside persistent consumer preference for gluten-free options, helped maintain production growth and market value, which climbed to 34 765 thousand USD in 2023.
