From 2018 to 2020, the Polish market for potato flour, flakes, granules and pellets grew from 30 651 metric tons to 39 568 metric tons. This expansion was supported by regulatory changes that liberalized the potato market, allowing new quality categories from 2019, and by amendments to food labeling rules that highlighted the gluten-free properties of potato flour. Additionally, the facilitation of agricultural retail trade from the start of 2019 improved the availability of potato-based products.

After a contraction to 36 732 metric tons in 2021, the market recovered to 45 344 metric tons in 2022. The growth in 2022 was driven by substantial potato harvests in Poland and the European Union, which increased raw material supply, and by rising consumer demand for gluten-free and natural products, boosting consumption of potato flour as an ingredient.

In 2023, market volume saw a slight decline to 44 301 metric tons, followed by an increase to 50 302 metric tons in 2024, continuing the overall upward trend across the period.

In 2020, Poland's production of potato flour, flakes, granules, and pellets was valued at 41,242 thousand US dollars, marking an 8.4% increase compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 39.3%, with an average annual growth rate of 11.7%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, at 7.0%, while the most significant increase was recorded in 2018, at 38.1%.

In 2020, Poland produced 37,146 tonnes of potato flour, flakes, granules, and pellets, showing a robust 18.2% increase from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, production rose by 38%, with an average annual growth rate of 11.3%. The largest decline was in 2019, at 10.8%, and the biggest increase was in 2018, at 30.9%.

Poland's exports of potato flour, flakes, granules, and pellets increased for the second consecutive year in 2020, reaching 19,890 tonnes, a sharp 28.2% rise compared to the prior year. From 2017 to 2020, exports grew by 18.2%, equating to an annualized rate of 5.7%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2018, at 13,862 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 17.7%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Germany (15.6% of exports in kind), Romania (9.3%), and Malaysia (8.2%) were key buyers of potato flour, flakes, granules, and pellets from Poland. However, their combined share accounted for only 33.1% of total exports in kind, with the remaining 66.9% distributed among numerous other trading partners.

Poland's exports of potato flour, flakes, granules, and pellets increased for the third consecutive year in 2020, reaching 26,000 thousand US dollars, a 13.5% year-over-year advance. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 35.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 10.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland's export structure in value terms remained highly diversified. Germany (16.4% of exports in value terms), Romania (9.1%), and Malaysia (8.6%) together accounted for only 34.1% of total flows, while a long tail of smaller markets made up the remaining 65.9%.
