Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for fresh plums and sloes in Czechia showed considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. After a peak of 20 557 tons in 2018, consumption fell markedly the following year. The market then stabilized near 16 000 tons for several years before a notable rise to 18 378 tons in 2022, only to decline again to 16 206 tons in 2023.

This overall pattern was shaped by substantial shifts in domestic supply and import flows. Local production more than halved over the period, dropping from 12 920 tons to 5 420 tons. Concurrently, imports expanded significantly, rising from 8 033 tons to 12 086 tons, which helped compensate for the reduction in homegrown fruit.
