In 2018, Ukrainian peach and nectarine growers focused on updating varietal composition, including popular fig-type peaches and nectarines for fresh consumption and canning varieties for processing. This helped sustain domestic production at 26 380 t. The market volume, however, expanded significantly to 71 957 t in 2019, driven primarily by a sharp increase in imports, which nearly doubled.

A lower harvest in 2021 led to a 34% price increase for early peaches and contributed to a decline in overall market volume. The situation deteriorated drastically in 2022 when spring frosts destroyed a large portion of the domestic crop, and the war disrupted agricultural regions. These events caused production to plummet to 12 800 t and made imports account for over 90% of the market, though total market volume still contracted to 36 491 t.

By 2023, the market showed signs of recovery, reaching 45 291 t. This growth was fueled by a rebound in imports to 34 101 t, which offset a further decline in domestic production to 11 190 t.

Ukraine's production of peaches and nectarines declined for the second year in a row. In 2019, production stood at 24,210 tonnes, but by 2020 it had fallen sharply to 17,430 tonnes—a drop of 28.0%. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production decreased by 12.4%, which translates to an average annual decline of 4.3%. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 26,380 tonnes, marking a significant increase of 32.6% from the previous year.

The export market for peaches and nectarines showed considerable volatility during this period. In 2019, exports hit their lowest point at just 1 tonne, but they rebounded in 2020 to 1 tonne as well, representing a 15.4% increase year-over-year. The peak occurred in 2018 with 35 tonnes exported. The difference between the high in 2018 and the low in 2019 was substantial—a 34-fold gap. The largest decline was recorded in 2019 at 97.0%, while the biggest increase was in 2018 at 27.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, the export market was highly concentrated, with Belarus alone accounting for 93.6% of total exports in volume.

Export values displayed an unstable trend over these years. In 2019, exports bottomed out at 3,000 US dollars, but they rose to 3,000 US dollars in 2020—a 10.8% increase compared to the previous year. The peak was in 2018 at 24,000 US dollars. The difference between the high in 2018 and the low in 2019 was an 8.9-fold gap. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 88.8%, while the biggest increase was in 2018 at 160.5%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Belarus dominated export values, representing 75.2% of the total, with the remainder spread across a diverse group of smaller countries.

In 2018, imports reached their lowest level at 23,157 tonnes, but by 2020 they had climbed to 48,339 tonnes—a modest increase of 1.2% from the previous year. The peak was in 2020, creating a 2.1-fold difference between the high and low points. The largest decline was recorded in 2018 at 31.8%, while the biggest increase occurred in 2019 at 106.2%.
