Earlier Report Observations

From 2018, systemic reforms in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector aimed at phasing out inefficient models provided a foundation for growth in peach and nectarine production. By 2020, the introduction of new varieties helped broaden the product range and enhance competitiveness. However, the domestic market volume fell that year as exports surged, capturing a larger share of the output.

In 2021, a significant expansion of bearing orchard areas in the Fergana region supported higher production, while a sharp drop in exports allowed the domestic market to rebound strongly. The following year, a bumper harvest and consequent decline in wholesale prices made Uzbek peaches and nectarines more attractive on export markets, leading to increased shipments abroad that reduced domestic availability despite continued production growth.

The trend continued into 2023, with another high-yield season and low prices further boosting exports. The release of new nectarine varieties such as ‘Khosiyat’ and ‘Ifora’ improved product quality, strengthening Uzbekistan's position in key export destinations like the EAEU countries. By 2024, exports reached new heights, driven by strong demand in Russia and other CIS markets, keeping pressure on the domestic market volume.
