From 2018 to 2021, Morocco's peach and nectarine production increased steadily, reaching 169 thousand tons in 2021. This growth was supported by the country's strategy to expand volumes in anticipation of global production declines forecast for 2020-2021, which positioned Morocco to capture export opportunities. The announcement of a worldwide drop in peach and nectarine output in 2020 further reinforced this direction, as did European Commission reports predicting a long-term decrease in EU production, making Morocco a competitive supplier to the European market.

Production surged to 247.9 thousand tons in 2022, driven primarily by the entry of early-season peaches and nectarines launched by leading player Idyl in April, which opened a new market segment and tapped into growing international demand. Record exports to Germany, pre-announced that year, confirmed the strength of overseas sales. In 2023, output adjusted to 191.1 thousand tons, still substantially above pre-2022 levels, as Morocco consolidated its position in the European market with continued export momentum.
