Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2023, the peaches and nectarines market in MENA showed fluctuating volumes, with market size peaking at 1 794 thousand tons in 2022 before declining to 1 722 thousand tons in 2023. Production followed a similar pattern, reaching 1 764 thousand tons in 2022 then moderating to 1 746 thousand tons the following year, while imports generally trended downward after 2019.

In 2024, imports surged by 55% to 116 thousand tons, reversing a three-year decline. This sharp increase coincided with frost damage in major supplying regions like Turkey and Greece, which constrained local supply and prompted higher import volumes to meet demand. Concurrently, consumption in the GCC sub-region rebounded strongly, further supporting import growth.

Underlying these movements, the market continued to adapt to broader shifts such as rising consumer preference for fresh and natural produce, as well as supply-chain digitalization, which helped maintain availability amid periodic disruptions from weather and geopolitical uncertainties.
