Earlier Report Observations

Particle board production in the Caribbean region remained constant at 62 000 m³ from 2018 through 2023. Over the same period, the total market volume, calculated as domestic output plus net imports, expanded from 74 033 m³ in 2019 to 95 276 m³ in 2023. This 28% growth was entirely driven by a rise in imports, which more than doubled from 12 035 m³ to 33 941 m³.

Following a period of stability in 2020 when the market volume settled at 72 862 m³, consumption entered a phase of sustained growth. Imports climbed steadily, reaching 18 361 m³ in 2021, 30 587 m³ in 2022, and 33 941 m³ in 2023. This increasing inflow of particle board compensated for the flat domestic production, pushing the overall market size higher each year.

By 2023, the Caribbean particle board market had grown to 95 276 m³. While exports were negligible for most of the period, they increased to 3 369 m³ in 2024, though this did not alter the overarching trend of market expansion observed from 2019 to 2023.
