From 2018 to 2023, Tajikistan's paddy rice market volume grew from 90.5 to 162.0 thousand tons, driven by a national policy of agriculturalization and state support for the farming sector. This focus on domestic agriculture spurred initial production increases from 90.4 to over 140 thousand tons by 2021.

Subsequent growth was reinforced by the physical expansion of sown area, including double-cropping on over 16 thousand hectares, and the introduction of new cultivation technologies through a cooperation agreement with China. These measures helped push annual production to 161.9 thousand tons by 2023, significantly reducing import dependency.

The market's upward trajectory continued despite periodic challenges such as water scarcity, with production maintaining its climb even after summer heat affected yields in 2023. Government plans and technological investments in 2024 aimed to further solidify this growth trend.
