Peru's paddy rice market volume reached 3 558 thousand tons in 2018. The following year, it dropped sharply to 3 191 thousand tons, driven by an oversupply from the previous campaign that had expanded planting area and pushed farm prices down, leading to reduced sowing.

Volume recovered to 3 434 thousand tons in 2020 and grew further to 3 538 thousand tons in 2021, though climatic problems limited water availability and timely planting that year. In 2022, production fell to 3 348 thousand tons as soaring fertilizer costs and supply issues curtailed planted area and pressured output.

A modest increase to 3 402 thousand tons occurred in 2023, supported by recovered planting areas, better farm prices, and mill modernization. In 2024, factors such as increased harvested areas and good yields were reported, consistent with the conditions that supported production in prior years.

In 2020, Peru produced 3 434 K t of paddy rice, marking a modest 7.6% increase compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 10.2%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 3.3%. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 3 558 K t, with the largest annual increase of 14.2% also occurring that year.
