Peru's barley production declined after two years of growth. In 2019, production reached its peak at 210.3 thousand tons, but then fell by 3.3% to 203.4 thousand tons in 2020. The largest annual increase occurred in 2018, when production rose by 3.0%.

Peru's barley exports grew for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 0.0 thousand tons, representing a significant increase of 13.9% compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, exports rose by 6.9%, equivalent to an average annual growth rate of 2.2%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 0.0 thousand tons, which also saw the largest decline of 11.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, the United States and Chile dominated Peru's barley exports in volume terms. The United States accounted for 65.8% of total exports, while Chile represented 17.9%, together making up 83.7% of all exports. Other trading partners accounted for the remaining share.

The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 39 thousand US dollars, which also experienced the largest decline of 23.5%. The most significant increase occurred in 2019, with a rise of 28.1%.
