Contract farming with juice factories and large stores provided fixed rates and higher earnings for farmers, securing supply. This production momentum contributed to a notable surge in market volume to 3.94 million tons in 2020.

From 2021 to 2023, market volume fluctuated between 3.93 and 4.01 million tons. Regional production concentrations became evident, such as Telangana's sweet orange output reaching 615,000 tons in 2022-23. The market saw increased dynamism in 2023 with the entry of new players and intensified domestic competition as sweeter, vibrantly colored Rajasthani varieties gained popularity, shifting consumer preferences and stimulating demand.

In 2020, India produced 4,040 thousand tonnes of oranges, marking a 23.7% increase from 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 25.9%, which translates to an annualized rate of 8.0%. The smallest change occurred in 2019, with no significant decline.
