In 2018, the market volume for not roasted and not cooked groundnuts in Morocco reached 34 322 tonnes, with domestic production constrained by low average yields of around 25 quintals per hectare due to technical and phytosanitary challenges in the main growing region between Kenitra and Larache. The following year, the market expanded sharply to 44 568 tonnes, driven by a rise in domestic production to 39 670 tonnes and a doubling of imports to 5 034 tonnes.

After the 2019 peak, the market volume contracted to 40 527 tonnes in 2020 as both production and imports declined. It stabilized near 41 127 tonnes in 2021, but a significant drop in domestic output to 27 756 tonnes in 2022 was partly offset by a surge in imports to 11 455 tonnes, resulting in a market volume of 39 211 tonnes. By 2023, production fell further to 22 224 tonnes, imports decreased to 8 418 tonnes, and the total market shrank to 30 640 tonnes.

For 2024, import volumes of groundnuts into Morocco rose to 15 071 tonnes, reflecting the country's growing reliance on foreign supplies to meet demand. This trend aligns with noted increased import activity for shelled and unprocessed groundnuts, amid potential future supply constraints due to an export ban on peanuts from Senegal, a key regional supplier.
